Do I need to enter all of that information in the form? Do I need to enter all of that information in the form? Yes. Not all of the information is required, but it is all important in making sure you recieve the reservation you need. Even though it might appear trivial and doesn't generate an error when omitted, please try to fill in all of the information in the request form. Do I need to request software that is already installed in clusters? Yes. If an application does not appear to be used and is not requested by an instructor, it is likely that it will be removed. If you are counting on using that appliation, you need to let us know so we don't remove it from our collection. Also, we need to track the number of users of certain software that has a limited number of licenses. If we know that there is the potential for 50 students to use an application we only have 25 licenses for, we can make necessary adjustments, either to the reservations or to our license. How do I request a specific cluster? Use the comments field at the end of the form to indicate preference of a particular cluster. We cannot always give you your first choice, but knowing that you prefer to be in a specific room will help us in our planning. How do I request multiple rooms? Each room should be a seperate section. Our system does not link to the registrar's so this will not effect what is listed in the course catalog. You should indicate that you need multiple rooms in the comments section. For example, if you have 50 students and will need to use Baker 140 E and F, you should indicate that you have 2 sections, 25 students each, and note in the comments field that this is really one class that will be spread over two clusters, preferably Baker 140E and F. Can I see what's available before I make my request? If you are making a reservation after the semester has begun, you can view the entire semester schedule and see what is available on the day(s) you would like to use a cluster. However, someone else may have submitted a request before you and may be next in line. The more advanced notice you can give of your request and needs, the more likely we are to be able to accomodate you. If you are looking ahead to the coming semester, the schedule may not be completely up-to-date. During the semester planning (3-4 weeks after the reservation request deadline for the upcoming semester) this might not be accurate since we are adding and moving classes in the semester during that time. Do I need to keep my confirmation? Yes. Please make sure to review the confirmation and keep a copy your records. If there are any mistakes, please let us know immediately and we will work to make sure the reservation is what you need. The confirmation has important information in addition to the dates, times and location of your classes, and may include the answers to some of your questions later on. Also, in the unlikely event of a conflict or problem with your reservation, this confirmation will speed up the process of correcting the situtation for you. If I lose my confirmation, how can I check the reservation? You can always check the reservations schedule for the time and location of your class. If you would like us to resend a confirmation, send mail to cluster-reservations@andrew.cmu.edu with the course number and contact name and we will send a copy of the confirmation to you. How do I make changes once I've submitted my request? Please do not resubmit a request if there are changes to a request you have already submitted. Unfortunately, our system does not allow users to make chages to the requests, but you can let us know about changes or updates by emailing cluster-reservations@andrew.cmu.edu. Please make sure to include the course number, day and time of the reservation's original request so we can match it up correctly. Who enforces cluster policies when I am teaching in a cluster? You! As the instructor for a course, you assume the responsibility for making sure that all of our policies are followed while you are using the cluster. This is especially important with respect to our no food and drink policy. We have experienced many problems in the past with students abusing this policy and causing damage to the equipment and/or workspace. Please help us to make sure that our clusters are clean, usable and that students understand and respect this policy. Thank you. Who do I contact if I have a problem when I am teaching? If you have a problem when you are teaching, especially one that interferes with the class, please use the public phone located in the cluster to call 8-8776 and someone will be able to help you. | ||
